The School Day
During the COVID-19 crisis, special arrangements are in place that acknowledge the risk of Coronavirus. There may be some changes to the school day.
Children should arrive at 8.40am when the gates will be unlocked. At 8.50am the teachers will open the classroom doors and the children will enter school. There is always a member of staff available at the classroom door, who you can pass brief messages to, but if you need to speak to the class teacher at length please ring to make an appointment. Registration will be at 9.00am prompt and for security reasons, the access gates will be shut at 9.00am. Children arriving after this time should enter through the main office door.
During the mid-morning break the children are supervised by staff. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 receive a piece of fruit daily, supplied and paid for by a Government initiative. Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to bring in fruit or can purchase fruit at break time. In the event of bad weather at playtime the children remain in their classroom and again are supervised. An assortment of board games, jigsaws and toys are available at this time. Milk is provided to those who have booked it in advance.
At the end of school, children will be collected from their classroom doors. Y6 pupils are allowed to walk home by themselves, if parents have given permission. If collection arrangements are different from usual, we politely ask parents to inform their child’s class teacher or contact the school office.
If children are absent from school for any reason, please call the office and let us know as we are obliged to keep records. If your child is not taking part in PE or swimming, then a note to the teacher should be provided.
